A FIRE crew has been called to a barbecue on fire at a property in Weymouth.
The crew from Weymouth attended the premises in Holme Close at around noon today and discovered a fire involving a barbecue in the garden of the property, which they extinguished using the occupants’ garden hose.
A spokesman for Dorset Fire and Rescue Service said the cause was believed to have been accidental involving covering left on the barbecue.
The cover was destroyed by the fire and there was a small amount of heat damage to the cladding of the property.
The service spokesman added: “When having a barbecue in your garden, please always ensure it is situated away from the property and hedges or fences to prevent fire spread.”
