Firefighters tackled a fire on the railway embankment on Corfe Common.
Dorset Fire and Rescue Service were alerted to the incident in Purbeck at 3.42pm this afternoon.
A retained crew from Swanage were mobilised to the incident.
Upon arrival crews confirmed that the incident was a small fire on the embankment.
Trains were temporarily held at Harman's Cross in Purbeck to allow crews access to the railway line.
The fire was extinguished using one backpack and by beating.
Firefighters battled the blaze and brought it under control by 4.13pm.
