STAFF and volunteers at a Dorset animal rescue centre are preparing to welcome the public for their annual Companion Dog Show and Family Fun Day.

Margaret Green Animal Rescue is holding the event on Sunday, August 2 at the charity's Church Knowle Rehoming and Visitor Centre near Corfe Castle.

There will be a range of entertainment from 11am to 4pm and the chance to enter your pooch in one of 17 dog show classes from pedigree classes to novelty classes such as waggiest tail.

Dogs that have been rehomed from Margaret Green will also have the chance to qualify for the dog show at Buckham Fair on the day.

Other attractions include a god scurry, bouncy castle, kids' zone. dog agility and a Pimms tent.

There will also be plenty of stalls and refreshments on offer.

All funds raised will go to support the work of Margaret Green, which care for more than 1,200 animals every year.

The winning tickets for the charity's Summer Grand Draw will also be drawn at the end of the day with a £500 prize up for grabs.

Entrance costs £3 for adults and £1 for children aged 12 and under.
