A TOMMY Cooper impersonator who was crowned the world’s fastest joke teller has now also become one of the world’s fastest magicians- just like that.

Clive Greenaway already scooped one Guinness World Record earlier this year for the most jokes told in a minute.

He has now gained another title for the most magic tricks performed blindfolded in one minute.

The record was previously set by a Fernando Diaz from Venezuela who performed a total of 17 tricks in 2011 on a local TV show.

Mr Greenaway performed 18 tricks at the Dorchester Library on June 2, grabbing Mr Diaz's title.

Mr Greenaway, from Poole, is a comedy magician, most known for his Tommy Cooper inspired act. He is also a member of the magic circle and equity.

His previous world record for the most jokes told in a minute saw him tell 27 jokes at the Haverhill Arts Centre in Suffolk, taking the crown from German Markus Weise.

Mr Greenaway then went on to top his own record a couple of weeks later, with 28 jokes told in one minute on an episode of BBC One’s The One Show.

Mr Greenaway said that he loved comedy magic and that although he was pleased with his previous world record, he felt that it diverted the attention away from the magical side of his acts.

An opportunity presented itself when Dorchester Library contacted Mr Greenaway, asking him to take part in an event aimed at those who wanted to attempt world records.

Mr Greenaway said: "The library contacted me because they wanted me to give a talk on record breaking and asked would I go and give the visitors some tips?

“I offered to break my own record and break a new one.”

“I wanted to incorporate the comedy and magic so I decided to look into the most tricks done in a minute."

But in order to obtain a particular title, he had to perform the tricks blindfolded.

Mr Greenaway said: “I had to choose which tricks I could do the quickest and because I had to do it blindfolded, I had to practice quite a lot.”

The hard work paid off and the comic conjurer has received confirmation that he has broken yet another world record and held the title of the most magic tricks performed blindfolded in a minute.

Performing at the Dorchester library, Mr Greenaway pulled off a number of disappearing acts as well as a glass bottle, bottle glass trick which had been previously performed by the late Tommy Cooper during his acts.

Mr Greenaway has yet to receive his official certificate. However his success has been announced on the Guinness World Record website.
