READY, set, go!

A bunch of fitness enthusiasts are lacing up their trainers and resetting their stopwatches ahead of this weekend’s Weymouth Park Run through Lodmoor Country Park.

It is a milestone occasion for the run’s organisers, as they celebrate the 100th run on Saturday.

First launched in a bid to boost fitness in the local community, hundreds of runners now run five kilometres through the park every Saturday morning. It is a free run, and it is organised by a team of committed volunteers who give up their time every Saturday morning.

To celebrate the 100th run anniversary, there will be a host of entertainment and incentives for the runners.

The Weymouth Ukulelean band will be performing before and during the run, and there will also be a three piece accordion band performing through the day.

There will be goody bags on offer for all first timers, and for those who have started running in the past year, and there will also be presentations to the age-graded superstar runners.

Following the run, there will also be coffee and cakes available.
