MEMBERS of the Dorchester Beerex committee paid a visit to the Cherries Residential Home Summer Fete to present a cheque to the home.

The facility gives care and support to children with severe learning disabilities, autism and other challenging behaviours.

Chairman of the Beerex committee Rick Dowell said: "I would like to thank everyone who supported Dorchester Beerex 2015, our customers and sponsors, who enabled us to make this donation to The Cherries possible.

"The donation will provide special play equipment to benefit the children who live there now and those in the future."

Cherries resources manager Jim Collins said: "Our aim is to provide a safe and homely environment that is conducive to the healthy growth and development of our children.

"Given the specific needs of our residents, it is important that we are able to provide a range of activities and experiences that can assist them in managing their anxieties and levels of arousal, which can be very high at times.

"To this end, sensory toys and playground equipment such as swings can be very useful towards providing therapeutic activities which the children really enjoy, and it is towards purchasing such equipment that we will be using the monies gifted to us.

"We would like to thank the Dorchester Beerex committee very much for this donation."
