A MAN has been arrested following an alleged spate of criminal damage to cars.
Officers in Weymouth are appealing for victims of the alleged car damage to come forward following an incident in the town. One man has been arrested in connection with the alleged offence.
Officers believe the damage happened in the early hours of the morning last Sunday, when the alleged offender was found in possession of four car badges and a broken car aerial when he was arrested.
Officers said the suspect had walked from Weymouth town centre, through Chapelhay and possibly along Boot Hill, before he was found in Gypsy Lane.
Police Constable Elaine Leader, of Weymouth police, said: “I am appealing to any car owners in the relevant areas who may have damage to their cars to come forward.
“It is unclear at this stage how many vehicles were damaged in total, but car badges for a VW, Hyundai, Peugeot and Citroen were recovered.”
“I am keen to trace any potential victims or anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact me, in confidence, on 101.”
Officers added that a 19-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of criminal damage and theft and released on police bail until mid-August.
