WEYMOUTH’S oldest pub has something else to be proud of after scooping an award to recognise its ale.
The Boot came top of the pubs in the southern region (cask ale winner) in a competition by pub retailer Marston’s. It will now go through to compete against other Marston’s pubs around the country in the national competition, the winner of which will be announced in September.
The pub was a regional runner-up in the contest in 2012 and 2013. Manager Kevin Strickland said the award recognises the quality and choice of its real ales (10 are available) as well as service.
The Boot, in High West Street, is a traditional and friendly local pub which thrives on its ales, atmosphere and good conversation. Live music can be heard on
Tuesdays, a popular quiz in held on Wednesdays and a Sunday banquet in which people bring their own food to share is very popular.
