A LOCAL production team have returned from hosting part of the UK’s biggest national action sports and music festival.

Weymouth based Skate Girls Productions (SGP) were given the reins on organising and hosting the girl’s event at NASS Festival in Somerset last month, an annual weekend that focuses heavily on action sports such as BMX and skateboarding.

Despite being only two years-old, SGP, made up of trio Sadie Osborne, Rosie Flaherty and Ross Duncan, were also selected as the festival's main sponsor.

Sadie Osborne, who is also a manager at The Front Skatepark in Weymouth, said: “NASS had asked us earlier in the year if we would host the sessions. So we got full reign on the girls skateboard competition.

“SGP worked extremely hard for this to happen, we believe in all the girls out there who just love to skate.

“We worked with NASS very closely as integrating girls within the extremely popular festival means we are making history in raising the equality between male and female."

Special guests at the festival included skateboarder and actor Tony Hawk, and his team including USA skateboarder Lizzie Armanto.

SGP were fortunate enough to rub shoulders with the special guests over the course of the festival.

However, it was not the first time that the team has gained the attention of celebrities. Sadie Osborne and co-owner Rosie Flaherty found themselves filming a video for Foundations songstress Kate Nash less than a year after setting up SGP.

Last year the production team, were asked to film ‘I Hate You This Christmas’ after meeting the musician.

Speaking of her experience of meeting the skating legends, Sadie said: “It was great discussing what we did at SGP and why we do it, Lizzie was super nice and loved what we did, she is now started to follow us on social media which is great.

“Overall NASS festival was a great experience and has been a pinnacle point for our organisation, it has opened many doors that we can’t wait to get started on.

“Even though Weymouth is a small town just know if you believe in something with a passion, it can take you anywhere.”

Ryan Matthews, senior sports marketing executive for NASS said: “Every year we are blown away by the number of entries from both British and International skaters and BMX riders wanting to compete at NASS.

“The competitions have been the heart of the festival since it started and we’re thrilled to be able to welcome back Girls Sessions to the categories with the incredible help of Skate Girls Productions."
