STAFF, parents and children have been celebrating after their nursery was rated "outstanding" by inspectors.

Tops Day Nursery, Wareham, was awarded the highest ranking by Ofsted for the second time.

It also achieved an outstanding rating following its last inspection in 2009.

According to the Ofsted report, management and staff work exceptionally well together to provide high-quality care and education to children, and work extremely hard to create a rich learning environment.

The report also noted that children benefit from the wealth of learning opportunities provided and thoroughly enjoy playing in the garden and going on outings to a local forest, park and beach.

Cheryl Hadland, founder of Tops Day Nurseries, said: “Our staff and parents work very well together to deserve this rating. The Forest School has proved very popular, and children have enjoyed experiencing the natural world as they learn new skills through hands-on experiences.”

Oftsed Inspector Lorraine Sparey said: “Management provides excellent support for staff. They use their qualifications well and management leads by example, enabling staff to attend training and implement what they have learnt in their practice.”

“For example, several staff went on a training course linked to supporting two year olds. They have since reorganised the play room to enable those children to learn new skills."
