A MAN punched a camper van after a 'heated exchange of words' with another driver in Lyme Regis.

Dorset Police are appealing for information after the incident took place at around 4pm on Sunday along Church Street.

A vehicle, believed to be a silver Vauxhall Zafira, was seen leaving the town centre and heading eastbound along Church Street, with the driver seen taking part in an argument while passing a camper van.

Following the exchange of words, the silver car drew alongside the camper van and the driver, a man, punched the bodywork of the camper van, causing a dent.

A spokesperson for Lyme Regis police, said: "Police in Lyme Regis would encourage all drivers to take extra time and consider other road users at this busy time of year.

"Paying particular attention to road markings will assist you and others to negotiate our narrow streets.

"Keep clear markings on the road are there for a reason, so please do not wait on top of them. Likewise, the give way sign and markings at the approach into Church Street from Charmouth Road are designed so that traffic entering the narrow section must give way to traffic exiting the town."

Witnesses and anyone with information should call Dorset Police on 101.
