A GROUP supporting people whose loved ones have gone into care is holding an informal get together in Dorchester.

The next meeting of Carers Moving Forward is being held on Monday at Age UK Dorchester's Rowan Cottage centre in Prince of Wales Road, Dorchester.

The meeting is being held from 10,15am to 12noon.

Carers Moving Forward offers friendship and support for people whose loved-one has had to go into respite, urgent or residential care.

The group has members from Dorchester, Weymouth and the surrounding areas and new members are always welcome to come along to its meetings.

Founder Enid Evans said that the meeting on Monday will be a bit different than usual and would be an 'ideal opportunity' for newcomers to come along.

She said: "Normally we have a speaker every month, but as it’s the holiday season we have decided to have an informal get together to give members a chance to review the group’s first year and plan for the future.

"This means it’s an ideal opportunity for anyone new to come along to meet us and decide whether the Carers Moving Forward is for them.

"Tea and coffee will be available followed by an optional light lunch as usual.

"We normally go out for a Sunday lunch every month and then have a separate outing as well.

"There’s no obligation to join in but most of our members do and say they really enjoy themselves."
