A NEW music and dance group for children is heading west.

The Fizzy Boppers dance group already run sessions in Maiden Newton, Netherbury, Dorchester and Crossways and is now setting up a new class in Bridport.

Fizzy Boppers was originally started by four mums in 2013 to create a high-energy, maximum fun music and dance group for children up to the age of five and has proved extremely popular in its first two and a half years.

The latest new class will offer sessions in Bridport on a weekly basis, with the first session taking place on Tuesday, September 8, at the Bridport Youth Centre.

Each session combines catchy action songs with props and instruments and a themed dance section which changes every ten weeks.

Dances have included salsa, country and western as well as music from the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s.

Kelly Critchell, one of the Fizzy Boppers founders, said the group was looking forward to expanding again and could not wait to get started with the sessions in Bridport.

She said: “We are very excited about being given the opportunity to bring Fizzy Boppers to Bridport. So many wonderful families attend our current sessions and we were extremely delighted to secure such a fantastic location which offers the families of Bridport plenty of room to bop.

“We are also thankful for support from the local SureStart team who have encouraged us wholeheartedly along our journey.”

Fizzy Boppers was set up by mums Georgie Easton, Julia Dodds, Kelly Critchell and Kim Sibley from Maiden Newton and has been expanding over the years.

They now have support from other mums including Sarah Ridout, Emma De Feria and Emma Moore.

Earlier this summer the group welcomed it’s 2,000th member and it is now a registered Community Interest Company.
