A KITE SURFER who got into difficulties in Portland harbour sparked an alert for coastguards.
The Wyke Coastguard team were paged at 6.15pm yesterday evening (Wednesday) to reports of the struggling kite surfer.
The surfer was recovered by a vessel and taken to Ferrybridge. Team members of Wyke Coastguard located the kite surfer and, having checked on his welfare, took details which were then passed on the National Maritime Operations Centre.
The coastguard team returned to the station at approximately 8pm.
