PORTLAND Camera Club starts the new season with a competition of photographs taken by members during the summer outings.

The group meets fortnightly in The Peter Trim Hall at The Isle Of Portland Heritage Trust in Reforne at 7.30pm and the next meeting is on Wednesday, September 2.

The competition will be judged by Jodie Whyte who is a photographer for Arkadia magazines. Jodie will then give the club a talk about her impressive street photography for which she has travelled as far as New York.

Back by popular demand on September 16 is renowned wildlife photographer of more than 40 years David Boag whose talk is entitled 'Photographing Nature More Creatively'.

David has written numerous books, appeared on television and lectures and takes photos all over the world. His work can be seen at www.naturalfocus.co.uk

The last time he spoke at Portland Camera Club, he was such a popular guest speaker that the hall was full. This event is open to members and non-members for the nominal charge of £2 per person.

On September 30, there will be another competition on the theme 'Black and White' which will be judged by Graham Ireland.

The club welcomes anyone interested in photography, whether you use the latest DSLR, a 35mm film camera or even your phone camera.

There is a charge of £2 per meeting which includes refreshments at half time.
