DORCHESTER’S Love Parade will celebrate diversity and acceptance this weekend.

The annual event, has been moved from the Maumbury Rings in the county town to the Corn Exchange on Sunday (30), as bad weather is threatening Dorset.

However, organiser Chris Kendrick said that the rain won’t stop the party and the Love Parade procession will take place at 12.30pm.

The event will run from 12noon-8pm at the new venue on High East Street and everyone is encouraged to meet at the Corn Exchange at 12noon if they are taking part in the parade.

The theme of this year’s free music and comedy festival is divas.

There will be all sorts of arts and activities at the event. And there will be music and comedy from the likes of Nina Garcia, Dave Lynn, Miss Jason, Hustle and the UK’s top Pink tribute act.

There will be a bar, face painting, food stalls, bouncy castles, zumba and much more.

Mr Kendrick said that last year they had around a thousand people turn up to the event and this year they are hoping for another good turnout.

He urged everyone to join in the festival, adding: “Just come down, the rain is not going to stop the party.

“It’s to celebrate diversity and acceptance and it’s one big party as well.”

He added that the festival brought people together from all walks of life.

There will also be a cupcake stall at the event raising money for the Albert Kennedy Trust, a charity which helps young LGBT people who are made homeless or who are living in a hostile environment.

The after party will be at Cafe Jagos.
