A LEGAL eagle has proved she is a cut above the rest after chopping off her locks in the name of charity.

Trainee solicitor Annie James from Swanage-based law firm Ellis Jones solicitors cut off 10 inches off her hair and donated it to the children’s charity the Little Princess Trust.

The charity provides free real hair wigs to poorly children who have lost their own hair through cancer treatment and health conditions such as alopecia.

As part of her fundraising efforts, Annie has also raised more than £400 for the charity.

Annie has had long hair since she was a teenager but she said that the reaction to her new style had been very positive.

“My best friend suggested doing this and I thought, what a great idea,” said Annie.

“After my hair was cut off I posted it in a bag to the Little Princess Trust where it will be made into a wig. They’ve sent me a certificate and I feel really pleased at helping them out.

“It’s a very good cause.”

Annie said that her boyfriend, Matt Collins, 23, a carpenter, had been very supportive of her charity haircut as had all of her colleagues at the Ellis Jones practice.

She added: “I’ve also raised £408 for the Little Princess Trust.

“Everyone has been very kind.”

Monica Glass, charity manager at the Little Princess Trust, described Annie as an “amazing person.”

She added: “On behalf of everyone associated with the Little Princess Trust, I would like to thank Annie for everything that she has done for the charity.

“What an amazing person she is to have donated so much of her hair. “This contribution will be blended with others and will be made into a wig for a poorly child.

“The wonderful amount of fundraising that Annie has raised thanks to her kind and generous supporters will purchase a further wig for a different child. “Thank you so very much Annie.”

Nigel Smith, Ellis Jones’ managing partner, said: “Annie is a popular member of our team and everyone is proud of her efforts.”
