A HIT show that offers a different take on depression is bringing its uplifting experience to Dorset.

Every Brilliant Thing is at Bridport Arts Centre on Friday September 11 September at 8pm.

How many brilliant things in the world can you name?

This hilarious and uplifting show tells the story of a six year old boy whose mum is in hospital and Dad says she’s ‘done something stupid' and that she finds it hard to be happy.

The boy starts to make a list of all of the brilliant things in the word for her. Ice cream; Danger Mouse; the fact that when you jingle your keys, the otters in the animal park come out to say hello - and he can think of hundreds of them.

He’s going to show the list to his mum, as soon as she’s back home from the hospital. This is award-winning playwright Duncan Macmillan’s poignant starting point for a funny and heart-warming one-man show, based on true and untrue stories – which charts the journey of that list and its impact on the characters we meet.

Performed by stand-up comedian Jonny Donahoe, who genuinely embraces the audience in a wonderfully inclusive theatrical experience, the show at its heart is a human story that confronts tough subjects: depression and our inability at times to make those we love happy.

Marketing Manager Lisa Wilcock said “This heatwarming show had humble beginnings at the Ludlow Fringe Festival in 2013 and went on to become a hit at the 2014 Edinburgh Fringe. Glowing reviews have made it a must see for theatre lovers”
