CRANBORNE 0 BRIDPORT RESERVES 4

BRIDPORT Reserves recorded their second league win of the campaign as they produced a professional display to overcome bottom side Cranborne.

Having been hammered 11-0 against Shaftesbury just days previously, the Cranes shipped another four against the Bees.

And it was a Bridport performance which left visiting boss Shaun Annetts hugely satisfied.

Annetts told Echosport: “Overall, I was thrilled. We played very well and had a good attitude.

“It was a good performance, we defended well and created lots of chances.

“Although it finished 4-0 we could have and should have scored more.

“We weren’t perhaps as clinical in front of goal as we should have been but the fact we were creating chances in front of goal was good.”

The Bees went in at half-time 1-0 ahead through youngster Tom Blair. He was picked out by a great ball from Jack Scovell and finished with confidence to put the Bees in front.

After Blair had to come off with a dead leg, Robin Jones opened his account for the afternoon as Scovell, Josh Baker and Roger Cummings all contributed to a good team move.

Adam Stordy then advanced from right-back, beat a couple of defenders and finished well to make it three and cap a good individual performance having been named the Bees’ man-of-the-match.

Jones then doubled his tally to add a fourth and wrap things up.

Annetts added: “To be fair, at 1-0, Cranborne had a good chance when their lad got through and put the ball over.

“If he had hit the target and made 1-1 it could have been a slightly different story but that didn’t happen.”

Commenting further on youngster Blair, the Bridport boss said: “He has been playing since pre-season and has sat on the bench for us once or twice.

“Every time he has come off the bench he has done really well and, at the moment, I can’t leave him out because he is doing that well.

“He has adapted well to adult football and has an immense amount of talent. He is a good guy, trains hard, is a bright lad, and his future is going to be very bright. “He has been a breath of fresh air in my opinion and is certainly one for the future.”

The Bees now sit 11th in the league table with seven points from as many games.
