A HAIRDRESSER from Weymouth will be reversing her role as she takes the chair in a sponsored head shave for a cause close to her heart.

Stacey Jones, 27, has been working at The Modern Barbers on St Mary Street, Weymouth for two and a half years.

Her hair, which currently reaches past her shoulders and is black and green, will be shaved off at the barbers on Saturday, September 5.

Stacey said she was inspired to take on the head shave for the Genesis Research Trust after a personal experience in the past.

The Trust is a charity based in London which promotes research into the health of pregnant women and babies.

She added: “Being a hairdresser, the first thing people notice about me is my hair. My hair is a big deal to me but raising money for the Genesis Research Trust means more.

“The Trust is such a worthwhile charity which is very close to my heart and will help so many women in need.

“I feel proud to be doing my bit and hope I can raise money towards funding the vital research into issues that touch so many lives.”

Stacey has a fundraising target of £1,000 and has already raised £150 on her Justgiving page. She said the head shave takes place at 5.30pm and people are invited to go along and watch if they wish.

Stacey’s manager Louise Cox said her fundraising efforts were ‘fantastic’ and she was proud to be supporting the head shave by holding it at the barbers.

Louise said: “Stacey is very professional in her job and a very caring and giving person; she should be put on a pedestal for her efforts to raise money.

“We would encourage anyone who wants to to give what they can towards her head shave.”

Stacey said any donations, however large or small, would be appreciated and every penny would make a difference and be gratefully received.

She added: “I would like to say a massive thank you to everyone who has sponsored me so far.

Now the head shave is getting closer I am feeling a little nervous but I know it is for a good cause so that thought is spurring me on.”
