FARMERS are being urged to remain vigilant with their security after an attempted break in to a field of sheep and lambs in the Maiden Newton area.
The Dorchester Safer Neighbourhood Team released the safety message after receiving a report last weekend that there had been attempts to gain access to the field in the Chilfrome Lane area of Maiden Newton.
There was evidence of damage to the padlock and security wire, police have said.
The police warning comes after two sheep went missing from a farm on North Rew Lane earlier the same week, with one later found dead.
It is unknown whether this was a dog attack or the work of poachers.
Anyone with any information regarding either incident is asked to call Dorset Police on 101.
