OFFICERS are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information to come forward after a man died from his injuries following a collision in Lytchett Matravers.

At approximately 12.54pm on Friday 18 September, a two vehicle road traffic collision occurred on Huntick Road at the junction with Wareham Road outside the Rose and Crown pub.

A white Ford Transit Connect van, being driven by an 84-year-old man from Swanage, was in collision with a blue Mercedes A class car.

The driver of the Mercedes – a 91-year-old man from Lytchett Matravers – was taken to Poole Hospital for treatment but sadly died on Saturday 19 September 2015.

His next of kin have been informed and the coroner notified.

The driver of the Ford Transit was uninjured.

The road was closed while emergency services dealt with the incident. It was reopened at 2.30pm.

An investigation is underway into the cause of the collision.

Police Constable Lee Savage, of Dorset Police’s Traffic Unit, said: “Initially the injuries sustained in this collision were not thought to have been serious. But sadly the driver of the Mercedes died in hospital the following day.

“I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision or saw either vehicle being driven prior to the incident, to please call me.

“All calls will be treated in strict confidence.”
