EMPLOYEES of a law firm will be doing their bit for a good cause after a partnership was announced.

Charity Autism Wessex has agreed a year-long partnership with Porter Dodson LLP’s Dorchester office.

Gemma Saunders, corporate partnerships officer at Autism Wessex, said: “We are so pleased to have Porter Dodson LLP's on board."

She added: “We are so impressed with the team’s commitment as their first fundraising activity is already under way.

“Legal assistant, Meggie Crane will be taking part in the Bournemouth Marathon on our behalf.

“All money raised from this partnership will go towards funding our vital information and advice service, to ensure this remains free at the point of delivery.”

Meggie, from Weymouth, has run the London Marathon several times.

Gemma added: “Other fundraising activities have already been planned to include a free information session for parents/carers of children with additional needs and a high street collection for the charity.

“We would like to say how grateful we are to the dynamic and engaged team for getting behind the partnership so enthusiastically.”

Autism Wessex’ information and advice service provides support and advice to parents, carers and professionals.

More than half of all service users responding to evaluation registered an immediate reduction in stress levels and/or those of family as a result of contacting the service.

The service also provide autism awareness talks to community groups and professionals and delivered presentations to more than 500 people last year.

To ensure the service continues to be available to anyone who needs it for free, fundraising is a vital component to ensure its access to the community continues.
