A CRASH in north Dorset has seen two people airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Just before 12.30pm a collision occurred between a car and a motorcycle on the A30 Sherborne Causeway close to the Blackmore Vale filling station.
The rider of the motorcycle and the pillion passenger suffered serious injuries which police have described as life-threatening and were airlifted to Southmead Hospital in Bristol.
The road is closed between Lox Lane and Cherry Orchard Lane while emergency services deal with the incident.
The road is expected to be closed for some time to allow collision investigators to examine the scene.
Chief inspector Jim Beashal, of Dorset Police said: “I would like to thank motorists for their patience during the road closure, which is necessary to allow us to establish what happened. While the closures are in place I would urge motorists to avoid the area and look for alternative routes.”
Police are appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision to get in touch on 101.
