A YELLOW warning for rain has been issued for Dorset and will stay in force until tonight (Monday).

With rain hammering the county this morning and the winds picking up, the Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for today.

The warning was put in force at noon today and will run until 10pm tonight.

The chief forecaster said: “Heavy rain will affect parts of south and southeast England during Monday afternoon and evening, clearing away by late evening.

“The public should be aware of the risk of localised flooding and possible minor disruption to transport.”

The forecaster added that a very complex area of low pressure will bring warm, moist air northwards into Britain.

A few places may receive more than 15mm of rain in an hour, with overall totals in excess of 40mm in several hours.
