DORCHESTER Town have bolstered their ranks with the addition of midfielder Jack Alexander on dual-registration terms from Eastleigh.

Alexander, 18, is set to go into the Magpies’ squad for their trip to Slough Town in the Evo-Stik Southern Premier Division tomorrow (7.45pm).

The former Scotland youth international and Bristol City youngster is set to join up with the county town outfit, who will go level on points with arch rivals Weymouth with a win against the Rebels.

Speaking ahead of the game, first-team coach Stuart Heath insists the Magpies are highly focused on themselves rather than what’s going on around them in the play-off places.

He told Echosport: “I’d like to think that people are taking notice of us, but really, our aim is to look after ourselves.

“I know people’s expectations are getting raised but the only thing that matters to us are the expectations in our dressing room, which is the standards we set ourselves.

“If we are one of those teams which slip under the radar and manage to get in that top five then it will be done through hard work and belief.

“At the moment those qualities have carried us through some tough examinations and Slough away will be no different.

“It’s a game which, on most Tuesday nights, away from home is a real test.

“Throughout the season those midweek games build up and if you win more than you lose then you are going to find yourself in a good position.

“The league table only becomes relevant at the end of the season but we are pleased to be up there and it is all about maintaining that consistency and having the ability to grind out results on a tough Tuesday night away from home.”

Dorchester, who hit Chesham United for four on the road in a dramatic 4-3 win last time out, are expected to be without Jake Smeeton, who continues to recover from a fractured finger. Defender Nathan Walker remains suspended.

On the Magpies’ away form, Heath added: “I think our away performances on the whole have been full of attacking endeavour.

“We need to maintain the level of performance, intensity, and attacking threat that we show away from home, coupled a solid defensive base.”

Meanwhile, a first meeting of the club’s co-owners will take place in the lounge bar at the Avenue, on Wednesday, October 21 (6.45pm).

Player-manager Mark Jermyn will be in attendance to answer any football questions CBS members of the club may have.
