MODEL fans will be making tracks to the Tank Museum at Bovington today as the venue hosts an attempt to break the world record for the largest number of 1/6th one-sixth scale model tanks.

The British-made models run on tracks, include authentic sounds and move just like a real tank. Each model tank is approximately 1 one metre long and weighs in at around 340lbs (170kgs), they are capable of pulling a 7.5-ton truck, or climbing a muddy 45-degree slope. More than 100 models will be on show, replicas of tanks from the First World War to the Cold War. The attempt is taking place as part of the museum’s Annual Model Exhibition Tank MOD, when numerous model exhibitors show off their creations and share their hints and tips for creating for the perfect models.

Visitors will be able to see a wide variety of models, including boats, planes, cars and military vehicles.

There will also be the opportunity to purchase kits and accessories. Normal admission charges apply.
