ONE person was taken to hospital after a three car crash on the A37 near Dorchester.

Emergency services were called to the collision on the A37 in Charminster shortly before 8am this morning, after a blue Audi A3 registered to a woman from Dorchester, a blue Toyota Yaris registered to a man from Dorchester and a silver Vauxhall Sharan collided with each other at the Sodern Lane junction.

The driver of the Toyota was taken to hospital by paramedics, although the injuries are not believed to be serious.

Nobody else was injured in the incident.

The road was closed in both directions following the incident as emergency services worked, and the vehicles were recovered shortly after.

Motorists did face lengthy tailbacks due to the smash, but traffic had returned to normal by 9.15am.
