A COUPLE from Dorchester are lacing up for future success after launching a new online business.

Gemma Purnell and Nicholas Jozsef Illes have set up lingerie specialist site knickerlocker.com from their home in Poundbury, combining their respective skills in the lingerie and e-commerce industries.

The website, which specialises in lingerie, swimwear, nightwear, men’s underwear, maternity, nursing, sports and mastectomy wear, was officially launched on October 2.

But, the couple won’t be flying by the seat of their pants in the venture. Miss Purnell worked at local lingerie and underwear stores in Dorchester for eight years, with Mr Illes gaining a degree in finance and business as well as launching another site, cuckooland.com.

Ms Purnell said: “Knicker Locker is going well, the launch was a great success.

“We have exceeded our traffic and sales targets in our first month by 50 per cent and are working hard to ensure we meet next month’s goals.

“We are constantly working on the back end of the site to improve functionality and design, whilst also ensuring we have fresh stock to upload every month.

“The site isn’t fully operational yet, but new features are being released weekly and we hope to be fully operational by February next year.

“Our budgets are tight but We have a great team behind us and look forward to the year ahead.”

Knickerlocker.com is still in its early stages and although customers can log in to purchase items, the site will not be fully functional until February next year.

Building up to that date, the couple will introduce new features weekly on their website to try and keep customers coming back.
