A POLICE officer was left needing hospital treatment after being allegedly assaulted during a disturbance in Swanage.

Dorset Police received the first of several calls at 8.59pm on Friday night with reports of hearing noises at an address in Cluny Crescent.

According to a post on the Purbeck Police Facebook page, an officer attended the scene and found a person leaving the area, who became violent towards the police.

Warren Molloy, 46, from Swanage has been charged with assaulting a constable in the execution of his or her line of duty.

He is due to appear at Weymouth Magistrates Court on December 2.
