A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of rape after an alleged attack on a woman in the early hours of the morning.

The woman is being supported by specially-trained officers and police are investigating.

Anyone with information is being urged to come forward.

The incident is alleged to have taken place between 3.45am and 4.15am yesterday, Thursday November 26, in the precinct along Christchurch Road in Boscombe.

Police were informed at 8.56am. The alleged offender is described as black and five feet, six inches tall.

Detective Constable Neil Third, of Bournemouth CID, said: “I know members of the public often travel through the precinct at the time of the reported incident and I would urge anyone who saw a man matching the description given to please call 101.

“I am also keen to hear from anyone who has any information that may assist my investigation to please call Dorset Police.

“All calls will be treated in strict confidence.”

A 23-year-old man of Southwark, London, has been arrested on suspicion of rape and is currently assisting officers with their enquiries.
