DORSET is being warned to prepare for more gale force winds after taking a battering over the weekend.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for today, making it the third day running that such a warning has been in place for the area.

People are being warned of the risk of disruption to travel. although the winds are not expected to be as strong as yesterday.

Today's warning runs from 9am to 6pm, with the Met office predicting severe gales, particularly at exposed coastal areas with winds of up to 50mph forecast inland and 60mph on the coast.

It said: "Winds will gradually ease from the west on Monday afternoon.

"Please be aware of the risk of localised disruption to travel."

The Met Office added: "Although wind strengths will probably be slightly less than Sunday's system there is still the possibility of some localised low level impacts."

The high winds resulted in rough seas at Portland Bill over the weekend.
