A LORRY hit a railway bridge near Dorchester.
Dorset Police were called to the incident at 8.41am yesterday. The lorry hit the railway bridge at the Crossways end of the West Stafford bypass near the county town.
Officers said that following the incident the vehicle was able to reverse and so did not cause an obstruction to the road.
A spokesman for the police service said that Network Rail were informed and a structural engineer was sent out to check over the bridge and that trains were using the bridge as normal.
The police spokesman added that no-one was injured in the incident.
A spokesman for Network Rail said that an engineer checked the bridge at 9.21am.
He said: “There were a few scratches but there was no structural damage.”
The spokesman added that everything was back to normal by 9.58am.
