A MAN was hospitalised after burglars burst into his Weymouth home and attacked him.

The 24-year-old was taken to hospital with cuts to his hand after the incident at a house on Chickerell Road on Friday evening.

A relative of the man, who did not want to be named, said he believed a knife was involved in the attack but police could not confirm this.

Officers said cash and electronic items were taken in the raid.

Dorset Police are now hunting two people described as having Liverpudlian accents who they want to speak to in connection with the incident.

A spokesman for Dorset Police said: “We were called at 9pm on Friday, November 27 to reports of a burglary on Chickerell Road. Officers attended and a 24-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment to a hand injury which he sustained during the incident.

“Officers are continuing to investigate and are keen to speak to two men with Liverpudlian accents who were seen in the vicinity at the time.”

The men are described as white, in their mid to late 20s, around 6ft tall and athletically built. One was wearing a black outer jacket and the other was wearing a dark two-tone jacket.

No arrests have been made.

Paramedics were called to the scene and subsequently transported the injured man to Dorset County Hospital.

A spokesman for the South Western Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 9.15pm on Friday to a report of an assault in the Chickerell Road area.

“We sent one ambulance and one male casualty was taken to Dorset County Hospital.”

The relative added: “It is not a good thing to happen. He is still in hospital and it has left him very scared.

“He was attacked by a gang in his own home, stabbed and beaten.”
