Hollywood star Nicolas Cage left heads turning when he was spotted having lunch at a Weymouth pub.

The actor was seen having a bite to eat at The Ship Inn at Weymouth Harbour just before 4pm on Monday.

Keith Rupp, owner of Sharkey's, heard rumours of the star's visit and managed to track him down.

Cage posed for a photo alongside Keith and other members of Sharkey’s staff including Emily Elliott, Emily Andrews and Lisa Knight.

Keith said: "We heard he was in The Ship Inn having lunch. He was parked outside our place.

"He had a few words with us."

The 51-year-old has performed in leading roles in a variety of films, including Con Air, National Treasure, Face/Off and Gone in 60 Seconds.

Cage appeared to stay for a much longer period on this particular visit to Weymouth however, revealing to Keith he was in the area to try out some local cuisine.

Keith said: "I asked him why he was in Weymouth. He said he wanted to check out some of the nice food in Weymouth and catch the surf.

"He seemed all right. He was very friendly. People were taking photographs with him."
