A VEHICLE was set alight in Weymouth yesterday and police are now appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

Fire crews were called to Geelong Close in Littlemoor just before 8am after reports of a car fire.

The crews were able to extinguish the burning red Peugeot and no one was hurt as a result of the incident.

Police are now asking anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward and assist with the ongoing investigation.

Police Constable Chris Bevins, of Weymouth police, said: “Following initial investigations we now believe the fire was started maliciously.

“I am appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or seen anyone acting suspiciously in the area at the time to contact me on 101.”

Witnesses and anyone with information should call Dorset Police in confidence on 101 quoting incident number 9:52.
