WEYMOUTH child sex offender David Chadwick is back behind bars after being found following a police manhunt.

Detectives say that Chadwick, aged 58, who was wanted for breaching his licence conditions has been located – with officers thanking the public for their assistance.

Chadwick was convicted of sexual offences against children in 2013.

He had been wanted by Dorset Police since Wednesday and had travelled around Dorset before leaving the county, possibly on Thursday.

DI Joe Williams, of Dorset Police, said: “Earlier this evening, Saturday, February 13, David Chadwick presented himself to police officers working in Lowestoft, Suffolk. He will be immediately recalled to prison.

“I would like to thank members of the public, as well as the media, for their assistance in this investigation.”

Earlier today, police said Chadwick was believed to have travelled to Brockenhurst in the New Forest before possibly heading towards Norwich.

DI Williams said: “We now believe that Chadwick boarded a train at Wareham railway station on Wednesday afternoon and arrived in Brockenhurst, in Hampshire, at around 4.45pm.

"It is suspected that he may have then boarded a further train on Thursday with the intention of travelling to Norwich."

Earlier this week police established that David Chadwick had travelled by train from Weymouth to Moreton, near Dorchester, and CCTV images of him on board this train were released.

Chadwick hitchhiked to Briantspuddle and subsequently he received a lift from another member of the public and made his way to Wareham, before continuing out of Dorset.
