THERE will be a disturbance in the force when Dorchester hosts its first charity film and TV convention.

Greedy Goblin Con is coming to Dorset County Museum on Sunday, March 27 and will be raising money for charity with a range of guests, stalls and more from TV and film.

Included in the line-up coming to the show is David Prowse, who played Darth Vader in the original Star Wars trilogy.

There will be a chance to buy autographs and take part in Q and A panels, with money raised going to the county museum and to Smile with Siddy, a charity funding the research and treatment of Neuroblastoma.

As well as the special guests a trader hall is being set-up to buy rare merchandise with a charity auction taking place.

There will also be a chance to meet Paul Blake, who played Greedo in the original Star Wars film, Mike Edmonds who played Logray Ewok in Return of the Jedi and many more.

Also appearing will be Paul Warren who has appeared in an array of modern films including as a body double for Daniel Radcliffe in Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix and as a visual FX double for Chris Evans in Captain America: The First Avenger.

The event is being organised by two local TV and film enthusiasts, Stephen Ware and Marcus Smith who are putting on the event alongside working full-time.

Their local businesses Voyager Cleaning and Magpies Nest are sponsoring the event.

Stephen said: “We have travelled up and down the country attending other TV and film conventions, meeting other like-minded enthusiasts and meeting the starts from the shows and decided we wanted to bring this back to our hometown of Dorchester.

“We are setting this up in between working full time running our own businesses. Many conventions around the country are run commercially but we want to establish this event because of our passion in the area and making money is not important.

“Therefore, that’s why we decided to do this as a charity event, meaning all profits from the event, will be split between two charities.”

Advanced purchase early bird tickets have already completely sold out but anyone who wishes to attend will be able to turn up on the day after 12pm and buy tickets on the door on a one in, one out basis.
