EMERGENCY services were called to a car crash in Wiveliscombe after the driver fled the scene following a late-night smash.

Police and firefighters were called to the B3227 at 10.08pm yesterday, after reports of a car crash.

It was believed the driver of the car had left the scene following the incident.

Police officers and one fire appliance from Wiveliscombe cleared the scene and managed traffic, due to the car’s position in the road.

A spokesman from the fire service said: “A fire engine from Wiveliscombe attended a road traffic collision at the B3227 in Wiveliscombe.

“The driver of the vehicle was believed to have left the scene so crews got to work assisting Police with traffic duties due to the location of the car in the road.

“The vehicle and area were made safe and left in hands of Police.”
