WALKERS Jo Richards and Sarah Breaks have invited wellwishers to join them for the last mile of a charity trek along the Jurassic Coast.

The duo are stepping out on June 2 and 3 for a 50-mile fundraiser called the Jo-Rassic Challenge for their friend Jo Davies, who is seriously ill with cancer.

They will be walking from Sidmouth to Cafe Oasis at Overcombe Corner in Weymouth in aid of the Weldmar Hospicecare Trust.

Mrs Breaks and Mrs Richards have broken through the £7,000 barrier but hope to raise as much as possible.

Now they want friends, family and wellwishers to join them for the last mile home of the walk from the Jubilee Clock at 5pm this Sunday.

Mrs Breaks, 32, who is married to Jon with children Samuel, six, and Imogen, four, said: "We have had tremendous support from so many people.

"We are now over the £7,000 mark.

"I remember a conversation with Jo regarding the challenge and she said to me that we would have to raise a serious amount of cash.

"Well, I think she must be pleased."

Mrs Breaks added: "We estimate to arrive at the Jubilee Clock on Weymouth seafront on Sunday, June 3 at 5pm, at which point we would like people to join us to walk the last mile for Jo to the Cafe Oasis.

"The cafe will remain open serving refreshments. We hope to see you all there whatever the weather."

Mrs Richards and Mrs Breaks, who both live in Sutton Poyntz, came up with the idea and name for the fundraiser with their friend Mrs Davies.

Mrs Davies, 33, who lives with husband Chris and son Harvey, five, at Broadwey in Weymouth, has been battling a brain tumour since 2003 but has recently become more seriously ill.

Teacher Mrs Richards, 33, is married to husband Lloyd with daughters Poppy, eight, and Honey, four.

Mr Davies' colleagues at Dorset County Council raised £700 from a cake stall and bottle tombola. Other wellwishers have held car boot sales, donated items to auction off and sponsored them on the website - www.justgiving.com/jorassicchallenge Mrs Breaks added: "Businesses which have been very generous to us have included Café Oasis, Riverford Organic Vegetables, Green and Blacks, Aubergine Health Foods, Sprint Signs and Graphics, Heatcare, Pogles Wood, O2, Hey Baby, Arthair, and Nightingale Financial Services."

Sprint Signs has made a banner for Mrs Breaks and Mrs Richards when they arrive at Overcombe Corner but the duo are also hoping for a donation of a bottle of champagne from a wellwisher.

Mr Davies has written a blog about his experiences caring for his wife at chrisandjo.spaces.live.com Go to the Just Giving site at www.justgiving.com/jorassicchallenge or call 07769 690111 to sponsor them.

Mrs Breaks has also written a blog about their training for the walk on the Dorset Echo website at www.dorsetecho.co.uk
