A WOMAN has been airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after her car crashed into a wall.

Police closed the A350 between Blandford and the Roundhouse following the collision.

The road has since re-opened.

Police were called at 3.46pm to reports of a crash on the A350 at Charlton Marshall.

There was one female passenger in the car who has been airlifted to Poole Hospital with serious injuries.

The woman was freed from her car using hydrolic cutting equipment.

Two fire crews from Blandford are attending.

Motorists were being urged to avoid the area while the incident was ongoing.

A spokesman for the South Western Ambulance Service Trust said: "We were called at 1545hrs to a single vehicle collision where a car had crashed through a wall of a property and ended up in the front garden.

"We sent a land ambulance and an incident officer initially to find a female in her 60’s with reduced consciousness,  chest and abdominal injuries. The Air Ambulance was then sent and the casualty taken to Southampton General Hospital. It was possible that the patient had experienced a medical episode immediately prior to the collision."
