WELDMAR Hospicecare will help mark the Queen's 90th birthday by hosting a royal birthday tea party.

The event will take place on Sunday, June 12 in the grounds of Poundbury Farmhouse, Poundbury.

Permission has been granted by The Duchy of Cornwall offices for the event to be held at the location.

Activities will run between 2pm and 5pm. During this time, people will have the chance to enjoy cream teas, Pimms, refreshments, a raffle, face painting and live music.

Katie Slade, events fundraiser for Weldmar, said: "We look forward to a wonderful afternoon with friends, cake and maybe a glass of Pimms to toast a very special birthday. We hope you can join us, wearing your sparkliest tiara or crown and helping to raise funds for Weldmar at the same time."

This event is being sponsored by McCarthy & Stone and its Bowes Lyon Court Assisted Living Platinum development, which is currently under construction in Queen Mother Square.

Kim Caldwell, sales and marketing director for McCarthy & Stone, said: “We are delighted to be sponsoring this fantastic event on behalf of Weldmar. It’s a great way for everyone to join in the nationwide celebrations for the Queen’s birthday and as Bowes Lyon Court, which was actually named after the late Queen Mother, gears up to welcome its first homeowners this summer, it is important to us that we do our part to help support and grow the local community as much as possible.”
