DINERS following a vegan diet don’t have to pass on pizza anymore.

Dorset-based pizza restaurant The Stables have now introduced vegan options across all of their 14 locations in the country.

A spokesman for the company – which started off in Bridport – said that by choosing any of the vegetarian options on the menu, the chefs can make a simple swap for a vegan-friendly cheese to make it animal-free. Alternatively, diners can customise any of The Stable’s signature pizzas on offer to suit their dietary needs.

He said: “The menu lends itself perfectly to diners with specific dietary requirements.

“Gluten-free bases are always available, and are made on site to ensure freshness and quality. A delicious VioLife dairy-free cheese has made it possible for The Stable chefs to cater to those avoiding animal-based milk products. “

He added: “The Stable has an ethos that champions high quality, seasonal ingredients, and their team of Stablehands are able to ensure their diners’ comfort when choosing menu items to suit their tastes. In addition to the pizzas, the salad selection is easily adaptable as well, with a range of refreshing and healthy salads being launched this summer.”

The chain began in Bridport, Dorset in 2009 when Richard and Nikki Cooper converted a 16th Century stable block at the rear of their boutique hotel.

Along with Richard’s brother Andy, they came up with the idea to turn it into a cider and pizza house, inspired by Andy’s decade chefing in Australia.

In the land down under pizzas with unusual topping combinations were being served as opposed to the traditional Italian style we’ve been used to.
