SO, HAVING voted for Brexit I’m a xenophobic, selfish bigot according to Keith Townsend.

Well Mr Townsend I am none of those things; I do not have an unreasoning fear of foreigners, they are very welcome to come to this country indeed I and my wife have entertained many of them.

I am not a bigot, I don’t believe that the EU is the evil empire or that life outside it will be heaven on earth. Nor am I ruled by self interest and I don’t think I am stupid. I like foreign, ie European travel and I like the people I just don’t want to be ruled by them. Furthermore I feel no need to apologise to anyone least of all younger people.

If they were so concerned about their future how come only 36 per cent of those aged between 18 and 24 could be bothered to vote?

And what is this wonderful future I am accused of damaging?

Getting a job in the Eurozone where youth unemployment in some places is approaching 50 per cent? No, I feel that their future in a free, successful, outward-looking UK (I don’t think the Scots will want to leave) is brighter than in the failing, corrupt EU.

Apart from that, how many of these young people whose future has been destroyed can actually speak a European language?

Many I hear as I walk through the town seem to find difficulty in expressing themselves in English!
