ORGANISERS are celebrating another successful year at the Chesil Rocks festival.

This year's event took place on Saturday, June 18 at Higher Farm House in Langton Herring, near Weymouth.

All 500 tickets to the entertainment showcase were sold, with proceeds set to be donated to the Samaritans of Dorset when the final total is calculated.

The popular event, which is now in its fifth year, drew together performers from the worlds of music, comedy and storytelling.

Musical headliners Jess Upton and the Guilty Pleasures, the Gravity Drive and the Million Dollar Bash took to the stage alongside local acts, including Jolly Boys Outing. the Mighty Fine and the C Sharp Blues Band.

Tom Glover, Alf, Maggie Whitehouse and Wayne the Weird provided comedy performances and Jenny Moon delivered a storytelling showcase.

Event co-organiser Tim Warren said: "It was a fantastic atmosphere. It is a beautiful setting looking at the sea and the Jurassic Coast.

"With the variety of music, what we ensured is that people were exposed to music they might not normally choose to listen to."

Co-organiser Hilary Warren said she was "extremely grateful to our helpers and volunteers" for helping to put the event together.

Hilary added: "Suicide remains the leading cause of death in men under the age of 50 - and Hilary and I think that needs to change.

"We are keen to raise awareness of Samaritans and that they are there to help people who are in crisis or who need to talk.

"Our contribution means they can worry less about fundraising and focus more on what they do best - helping people in need and ultimately saving lives."

Aerial photography of the event was carried out by Matt Kilsby, who won the photography competition with one of his spectacular shots from the skies.

Both organisers wished to thank the sponsors for the event, including Magna Housing Association, Poundbury Dental Practice, Vivid Commercial Interiors, John Richards, Studio B in Bristol, Weymouth and Portland Scaffolding, Dorchester Round Table and AJ Wakely & Son.

The organising duo has confirmed that next year's Chesil Rocks event will take place on Saturday, June 17, 2017.
