POLICE are asking for witnesses to come forward after a burglar causes significant damage to a shop front.

At around 12.50am today, Wednesday 6 July 2016, an offender attempted to gain entry to the Central Convenience Store on Dorchester Road, Wool.

Damage was caused to the front door but nothing was stolen.

Police Constable Roan Doyle, of Purbeck police, said: “The offender appears to have used a crowbar and attempted to break into the front door of the store.

“Nothing was stolen in the incident but a significant amount of damage was caused to the store front. 

“I know that there were a number of motorists in the area at the time and I would urge them to please contact Dorset Police.

“I would also like to hear from any members of the public who saw someone acting suspiciously in the area at the time.”
