GREEN spaces in Weymouth and Portland are officially among the best in Britain.
Greenhill Gardens and Sandsfoot Gardens in Weymouth, and Easton Gardens in Portland have received the prestigious Green Flag Award, which recognises the best parks and green spaces across the country.
The scheme is run by the environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy.
A Green Flag flying overhead is a sign to the public that the space boasts the highest possible standards, is beautifully maintained and has excellent facilities.
Greenhill Gardens has received a Green Flag Award for the last ten years, Easton Gardens for the last nine years and Sandsfoot Gardens for the last five years.
Weymouth & Portland Borough Council’s spokesman for community facilities Cllr Andy Blackwood said: “We are absolutely delighted to receive a Green Flag Award for the 10th year running from Keep Britain Tidy.
“Having Green Flag Awards across three of our parks highlights that people in Weymouth and Portland are benefiting from green spaces of the very highest quality.”
More than 1,600 parks and green spaces across the UK will be flying the Green Flag this year.
International Green Flag Award scheme manager Paul Todd said: “We are delighted to be celebrating another record-breaking year for the Green Flag Award scheme, especially as we celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Awards.
“All the flags flying this year are a testament to the efforts of the thousands of men and women, both staff and volunteers, who work tirelessly to maintain the high standards demanded by the Green Flag
