A ROAD closure for new gas works has been moved back by a week.

Coombe Valley Road was meant to be closed from the junction with Rhosewood Drive to Barton Drive from Monday, July 25, but this has now moved back a week to Monday, August 1.

The closure is to enable essential gas works to be carried out and residents will be able to reach their homes but drivers using the route as a cut-through will be diverted via the A353 Preston Road, the A352 towards Broadmayne and Chalky Road.

Gas distribution company SGN has apologised for any disruption and thanked residents and drivers in advance for their patience.

In a statement on their website their said the moving of the works had been done in consultation with Dorset County Council,.

The statement continued: “We’ll be working in Coombe Valley Road between Rhosewood Drive and Littlemoor Road (A353) in three phases.

“We will need to close a section of Coombe Valley Road for 12 days during the first phase of our project. The following two phases will be carried out under temporary traffic lights. “ It added: “Please note, our project start date has now changed to Monday, August 1, and will now last four weeks. The temporary road closure will be in place from Monday, August 1, to Friday, August 12. We will remove our equipment and temporary traffic lights from Coombe Valley Road by Friday, August 26.”
