A CHARITY supporting children and adults in Dorset with disabilities is urging people to get involved in its fun-filled summer.

Diverse Abilities is urging people to sign up to volunteer at a host of events the charity will be attending over the coming months to help support its vital work.

It says that those taking part will have a great time, meet new people and help to raise the profile of the charity.

As an added bonus volunteers will receive free entry to the events and once they have finished helping can relax and enjoy the atmosphere.

Diverse Abilities is urgently seeking volunteers this summer for Harry Paye Day in Poole on June 18, Grooves on the Green at Ashley Cross on July 9 and July 10, the Great Dorset Chilli Festival in Wimborne on July 30 and July 31, Poole Carnival on August 7, Melplash Agricultural Show at West Bay on August 25 and the Dorset County Show near Dorchester on September 3 and September 4.

Volunteer duties at events include manning the charity's stall, bucket collections and running a tombola or games.

Fiona Hansford, corporate and community manager at Diverse Abilities, said: “Volunteering gets you out and about - you can meet new people and learn a new skill, while making a difference to Diverse Abilities.

"It is also great for your CV. We would not be able to achieve everything we do without the help of our amazing volunteers, so why not be one of the fantastic people who make a difference this year?”

If you can spare some time and would like to volunteer with Diverse Abilities, get in touch with Fiona Hansford on 01202 718266 or Fiona.hansford@diverseabilities.org.uk
