A MOTORCYCLIST has suffered life threatening head injuries after a crash near Blandford.

Two motorcyclists were travelling together from Blandford when one of them collided with a silver Honda Civic on the A350 through Spetisbury.

The biker, a 30-year-old man from Poole, has been airlifted to Southampton General Hospital with serious head injuries.

Today, Monday, police said his condition was "life threatening".

He was riding a black and red Suzuki 1000c motorcycle.

The Civic driver, a 30-year-old woman from Blandford, was not injured in the crash.

The incident happened 10.50am this morning.

The A350 has been closed between the A350/A354 junction in Blandford St Mary and the A31/A350 junction at the Roundhouse roundabout in Sturminster Marshall in both directions while services attend to the collision.

Chief Inspector Jim Beashel, of Dorset Police, said: “I would ask motorists to please avoid the area and use alternative routes as the road has been closed to enable collision investigators to examine the scene.

"We would like to thank the public for their patience while emergency services are dealing with the incident."

The road is expected to remain closed into the afternoon

Dorset Air Ambulance, Ambulance crew and Police attended the scene.

The motorcyclist's next of kin have been informed.
